SHANGHAI

Shanghai is situated at the east end of the Yangtze River Delta on China's east coast, and its centrality from other regions make it the largest economic center in China.  Shanghai covers an area of 6,340 square kilometers and has a population of approximately 13.5 million.

 

Economic Development Shanghai's economic infrastructure has seen a rapid development. The GDP of Shanghai reached is above the national average. The output value from its tertiary industries is 123.9 billion RMB makes up 42% of the GDP. As well, the pillar industries (in automobiles, communication equipment operation by high and new technology, modern biology and medicine, integrated-circuits, and computers) has risen substantially in number.

 

Economic Development Zones  Shanghai's economic development zones consist of the Pudong New Development Zone, the Lujiazui Financial and Trade Zone, the Gaoqiao Tariff Free Zone, the Jinqiao Export-oriented Processing Zone, and the Zhangjiang High-Technology Park. Many multi-nations have moved their headquarters or regional headquarters to Pudong. As well, three state-level production element markets have moved to there. Foreign-owned companies that have been established by other provinces and central government enterprises is risen in number. Eight foreign banks have been authorized to deal with the Renminbi business. 

       
    THE BUND

A symbol of Shanghai and an epitome of Shanghai's modern history. On one side of the broad freeway stand 52 blocks of tall, magnificent buildings with different architectural styles, which can be called a museum of modern world architecture. On the other side is the wide embankment, Where crowds of visitors come to enjoy the beautiful scenery on the Huangpu-mother river of Shanghai. When night falls, colorful lights illuminate the whole Bund area and turn it into a scene of the "Wonderland".
       
    NANJING EAST ROAD

The most bustling shopping centre in Shanghai and enjoying the reputation of "China's No. 1 Street" . Business hours are from 10am to pm. Brightly lit Nanjing Road is a wonderful view at night in a sea of lights. Everyday afternoon a section of Nanjing Road becomes a pedestrians' walking street.
       
    PEOPLE'S SQUARE AND SHANGHAI MUSEUM

The People's Square is the political and cultural centre of Shanghai. Here are found the Shanghai Museum, the Municipal Hall, the underground shopping arcade, the underground parking spots, and Shanghai Grand Theatre. The Museum is a comprehensive museum of art, being one of the 4 largest museums in the country. It has a collection of 12,300 pieces in 23 categories of valuable cultural relies. The shape of the building is like a giant bronze tripod, looking graceful and solemn. There are modern facilities in the museum, such as a multi-function lecture hall, sound guiding, etc.
