JIANGXI - Nanchang (Capital of the Province):
Nanchang is on the southwest bank of Poyang Lake and central-north part of
the province. It covers a total area of 7,402 square kilometers, and a
population of 4.05 millions. Its urban area is 617 square kilometers with
1.57 million urban residents. The city is located in the sub-tropical zone
and its climate is humid and warm. It has a total water area of 208,700
hectares, with hydropower reserves standing at 72.700 KW.
Natural Resources and Industrial Development: Nanchang has 28 kinds
of recoverable natural resources; mainly by non-metal metal building
material ore, such as construction brick clay, decoration stone materials,
marble stone, limestone, granite and fuel and mineral water. The city
achievement of agriculture in ten major farm produce with high quality -
rice, oil-bearing seeds, sesame, peanut, water chestnut, onion, fruit, and
lean-meat port, poultry and egg, and special aquatic products. A modern and
diversified industrial system has been formed in the city, such as

Commerce and Opening to the outside World: The city has a strong local
consumption market, it has more than 40,000 wholesale and retail outlets and
several large comprehensive shopping markets such the Hongcheng Market,
Wanshougong Mall and the Nanchang Farm Produce Market. The sale volume of
the Hongcheng Market generates over 10 millions yuan a day. Nanchang is an
inland opening city since 1992, the city has established economic and trade
ties with more than 60 overseas countries and regions, the city approved
more than 1500 foreign- funded enterprises with foreign investment more than
1,5 billion US dollars.
Nanchang High and New Technological Industry Development Zone: The
development zone has an area of 19.5 square kilometers, there were nearly
300 enterprises founded in the zone, including 57 are foreign funded
enterprises. The Changbei Open and Development Zone is an important part of
industrial zones of the province, it occupied an area of 88.6 square
kilometers of land, and the zone founded over 120 foreign-funded enterprises
with a combined substantial investment.
The Major Economic Developing cities of the Province: The cities of
Jiujiang, Shangrao, Ganzhou and Linchuan are the major economic developing
cities of the province. Jiujiang city located on the south bank of the
middle and lower reaches of Yangtze River, north part of the province. It is
the important inland river port junction with Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan and
Anhui provinces meet. The Lushan Mountain which has been famous for its
culture ever since the ancient time, is one of the major national scenic
spots and tourist attractions of China. The two thirds water area of Poyang
Lake, China's largest fresh water lake, are in Jiujiang. Many kinds of
precious birds' habitat in Poyang Lake is one of the world's largest nature
reserve specially for birds. The city's industry has take shape and rapid
developing. It has 15 pillar industry setups including petrochemicals,
textiles, machinery, building materials, metallurgy, electronics,
ship-building, power and food. The Jiujiang Economic and Technology
Development Zone and the Gongqing Development Zone have been formed the
Nanchang-Jiujiang Industrial Corridor which become a favorable place for
overseas investment. Shangrao city is located on the northeast Jiangxi
Province, which is the traffic hub of Jiangxi, Fujian, Zhejiang and Anhui
provinces. Its industries range from machinery, chemicals, building
materials, medicine, garments. Linchuan is lying in the eastern part of the
province. Gold, copper, porcelain clay, barite, granite are the main mineral
resources of the city. Ganzhou City is located in the place where the
Zhangjiang and Gongjiang rivers in the southern of the province. The city is
rich in natural resources, and has 11 mineral resources such as rare earth,
copper, tungsten, placer gold, silver and silica. Ganzhou also rich in
waterpower, its hydro-energy potential totals 57,000 kilowatts.
