HUI AUTONOMOUS REGION - Yinchuan (Capital of the Ningxiao Hui
Autonomous Region) Yinchuan is the capital
city of Ningxiao Hui Autonomous Region, which is located in the centre
of northern China. The city is situated in the center of the irrigated
area of the Yellow River between the Yellow River and the Helan
Mountain. Its urban area is 1,277 square kilometers and its
population, 901,500. Yinchuan is rich in non-metal ore resources, of
which coal, diabase, limestone, quartz sand and others have been
proven. Zhongwei County, only 100 kilometers from Yinchuan, has the
largest reserves of gyp in China; 1.267 million tons have been found
thus far.
Industrial and Economic Development
Yinchuan is a newly industrial developing city. Its pillar industries
have been developed using local coal, electricity, rich agricultural
products and mineral reserves. Chemical industries such as petroleum
refining, and the production of chemical fertilizers, tires, conveyer
belts, sodium, synthetic detergents, and plastic products and food
industries such as the production of citric acid, dairy products,
feed, canned asparagus, and spirits are rapidly developing.
Opening to the Outside World
The government of Yinchuan, to build a stronger economy, has
established the Project of Reconstructing Enterprises' Mechanisms. At
present, there are more than 200 foreign-invested ventures in Yinchuan.
Investment has reached 1 billion US dollars, foreign-invested ventures
accounting for 1/3. |
