TAIWAN - Taipei (Capital of the Taiwan) Taiwan is the largest island in China, separated from the mainland by the Taiwan Strait. One of its coastlines faces the Fujian Province, while the eastern coastline faces the Pacific Ocean. Taiwan and its surrounding islands make up a total area of 36,000 square kilometers. It has a population of 22.5 million. Taipei is the capital of Taiwan, located on the northern tip of the province, with the Tanshui River flowing west-south through the city. Taipei is an important commercial, industrial, and international city. The Taipei Taoyuan Airport hosts more than 30 airlines, with direct flights to all major international destinations, including the United States, Canada, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, and countries in South Asia and Europe. Its pillar industries include electronics, technology, mechanics, metallurgy, chemical and textile products, etc.

Rich in mineral resources and agriculture production Taiwan's temperatures average between 20 and 25C. Rice, sugar canes, tea, and fruits are some of the main agriculture products. Chilung, Su'O, and Kaohsiung are famous fishing harbors. Taiwan is also rich in mineral resources, with large reserves of gold, silver, copper, petroleum nature gas, coal, and sulphur.

Other major cities in Taiwan The city of Chilung is located at the northern part of Taiwan, an important sea transportation and fishing harbor only some 50 kilometers away from Taipei. The city of Kaohsiung is located in the southern part of Taiwan, an important industrial processing and fishing harbor, which sees to the exporting and importing of goods in and out of Taiwan. The city also has an international airport which connects flights to Taipei, Taichung, Hong Kong, and Macao. The city of Taichung and the city of Hsinchu are two commercial centers located in the central part of Taiwan. Both are stops along the Taipei-Kaohsiung railway, which serves as the route for hundreds of thousands of travelers.

Tourism resources Some of Taiwan's most revered and traveled tourist sites include Sun-Moon Lake, Jade Mountain, A-Lishan, Yangmingshan, Hualian's Hot Springs, Wulai, and the Pingdong Hunting Park.
