Kunming (Capital of Yunnan Province) Kunming
is the capital of the Yunnan Province and is located in the central
part of the province and the southwestern part of China. It has a
population of 3.793 million, including an urban population of 1.669
million. The city covers a total area of 15,561 square kilometers,
including an urban area of 110 square kilometers. The city's annual
average temperature stands at 14.5 C, enjoying plenty of sunlight and
rainfall. It is also known as the "Spring City".
Unique Tourism Resources and Mineral Resources
Kunming is a unique city, with beautiful sights such as lakes, hills,
strange rocks, caves, springs, waterfall, flowers, ancient trees,
famous gardens, ancient sites, and cultural relics, as well as its own
local habits and customs. The Stone Forest and Dianchi Lake are two of
the country's most famous scenic spots. Kunming houses one of China's
10 major tourism resorts. The Kunming International Tourism Festival,
held from April to May, attracts millions of foreign and domestic
tourists annually. Some other tourist attractions include the Garden
of Kunming International Horticultural Exposition, the Stone Forest,
the hot springs, and folk dance performances by different ethnic
minorities.
Fast and Sound Economic Development
As according to recent statistics, Kunming's Gross Domestic Product
(GDP) reached a total of 43 billion Chinese yuan, with primary
industries accounting for 9.04% of the total, the secondary industries
accounting for 49.78%, and the tertiary industries accounting for
41.18%. The township-run enterprises enjoy a strong growth momentum
with total business volumes topping 40.43 billion yuan. Each year, the
city receives 450,000 overseas tourists and 8.2 million domestic
tourists on average, brining in approximately 120 million US dollars
in tourism revenue.
Opening Up to Outside World
Kunming has so far approved the establishment of 66 foreign-funded
enterprises and more than 170 domestic-foreign cooperation ventures
have been carried out in the city. Fifteen offshore enterprises, with
total investments topping 65.53 million US dollars, have also been
established. Kuchiu is a city located to the south of Kunming, with a
first ranking in the size of its tin mineral reserves in China. Its
pillar industries include the mining, mechanical, chemical, and
metallurgy industries.

Western Hillsm, the Grand View Park, Villiage of the Dai's, the
botanical garden in Xishaungbanna county, the Nine Dragon Waterfalls
in Nuoping county, the Guanyun Buddhist Monastery in Lincang, Gushan
Island and Fuxian Lake in Yuxi city, the Solar Calendar Culture Park
in Chuxiong city, the Lantana and the Pearl River in Quing, the famous
peonies and the Lion Mountain in Wuding, the Yunfeng hills in
Tengchong, the garden of family Zhu in Hanshui, the Double Dragon
Bridge in Jianshui, the volcano ranges in Tengchong, as well as the
three pagodas, the Butter Spring, and the foreigners' street in Dali.
